#Imhotep made it to the table for the first time in a while. Always a fun time.
#Azul: Summer Pavilion arrived on the weekend from Amazon and we got in two plays of that. Both of which my son won.

How many players did you have on #Imhotep? I found it’s cut throat with 2 but a lot more relaxed with 3+
CaptainPossum Supporter3 months ago | 1 point[-]
I did have one really cutthroat move...my son was trying to collect additional statues for points and the market had 3 of them. I used one of the cards that lets you place a stone and sail a ship with one action and sailed the single cube ship to the market haha

How is Imhotep?
Sorry missed your comment. I enjoy it. Glad it is in my collection and anticipate that it will stay. Dont really feel the need for any of the expansions.

Finally got to play Castles of Burgundy this weekend. I bought it over a year ago and it just never made it to the table. But I am already hooked. What a fantastic 2 player game! Now to just figure out how to upgrade the components.

I played a 2 player game of Small World with my dad. First time playing it and would recommend it. Also played a few games of Magic: The Gathering. Lost some, won some.

I still haven't had a chance to play #Small World but wanted to try it out at least once some day. One of 3 Minute Board Game's recent video covered top games to play on steam and that was one of them so hopefully soon!

The Dwarves! I love this game but it seems to be largely forgotten.

Played Pax Pamir on Vassal. First time playing the game - am addicted big time now. Beautiful game design.

Played our first scenario of Gloomhaven. Playing second one today. Loving it.
Played the physical games of Seven Wonders Duel and Grifters with my boyfriend. Both games are so addictive. It is nice to have shorter games that is not difficult to play or set up with so much replay value. I play this a lot on my tablet with the app. Looking at the expansion.
Also played these boardgame apps on my tablet- Galaxy Trucker, Pandemic, Lords of Waterdeep with Skullport expansion, Onitama, and Terraforming Mars. All excellent apps.
Struggling to learn Twilight Struggle.
Anybody else have a favorite board game app?

I'm just getting into apps or anything digital these days. I've played #Tokaido and #On Tour apps but they're not necessarily games I'd play all that often. I'm looking forward to trying out #Through the Ages: A New Story of Civilization app since I've heard great things. I also wanted to tackle some of the games mentioned by @3MBG on his latest video: https://www.boardgameatlas.com/forum/HheGJP52WB/20-great-games-on-steam-for-board-gamers--youtube.
I want to try out #Raiders of the North Sea too.
I was playing #Through the Ages: A New Story of Civilization app for a while. It is so hard and complex to figure out the right strategies to ever win. It is definitely something to dig into when you have the time, so now is perfect. #Raiders of the North Sea is one of my favorite board games. I have not downloaded the app because it does not offer the expansions. Hopefully they soon will. Thanks for the other info.
That's good to hear, and I liked that it seemed to have some various challenges it offers. When I saw SU&SD's review of Through the Ages, and seeing all of the cubes, I knew I wouldn't want to manage all those.
I've been enjoying #Architects of the West Kingdom so I'll definitely be trying out Raiders. And I hope you check out the video! I was surprised by how many of the games on the list had me wanting to try them.
The video is great. I watch a lot of his videos. His taste is very similar to mine. Thanks for the link.
I introduced my parents to #Forbidden Island. I thought it'd be a walk in the park but we actually lost! And we were sooooooo close! (I didn't even realize you could lose a game by having the water rise to the highest point haha)
On another note, my mom wants to try out #Viticulture: Essential Edition. Phew, wish me luck everyone. It'll be her most complex game yet. It'll also be my wife's first time experiencing Viticulture with more than 2p. Bonus action spaces will finally be available :)
Nice! Good luck!

Oh man! Two tiles left! haha My wife and I like to make our own island designs. Some of them become nearly impossible haha But it's fun to mix things up a bit :)

Got a play of Star Realms in over lunch. First time playing and it was quite enjoyable. We played just the base game and had 30 authority to have a shorter game to get the feel of it. We also did Pandemic with friends over Zoom.
If you like Star realms, try Hero Realms! You get unique characters and a campaign.
After playing a few games I do think that would be a really fun addition. One of these days...
Still, my wife and I are really enjoying it

I have actually been able to play a ton of online stuff.
#Agricola (Revised Edition) x2
#The Castles of Burgundy in the middle of a second game
#Trajan in the middle of a second game
#Tzolk'in: The Mayan Calendar in the middle of a second game
And I am in the middle of a game of #Kanban as well. I also have a couple games of #Through the Ages: A New Story of Civilization through the app as well. I have been enjoying that, it is hard to be good though lol.
Not much in real life though, my wife and I have been jamming on a 2000 piece puzzle so that has taken over the table!
Marshwiggle92 Supporter3 months ago | 1 point[-]
Glad you still like #The Castles of Burgundy.
How do you like kanban?
It really looks interesting.
There is really a lot of interconnected parts to make quite a complex package. I’m still learning the game as I play but it seems to be more palatable mechanics wise than I thought, it’s tricky to know what’s a good move lol
I finally got to play some board games this week! I played 3 solo games of Root with the better bot project. My record is currently 1-2. I had a ton of fun! Look for my review to come soon!
I'm looking forward to your report. How many hours are you playing with?
I think I played for about 3 hours total.
Good and answer. However, I misstyped. I meant to ask how many bots you were playing with.

Finally got to play my copy of #Everdell with the #Pearlbook expansion. The expansion adds a substantial amount to the decision space and I really enjoyed it!
I’m very intrigued by Pearlbrook. Is it worth the cost?

Cool! I hadn’t heard of Oh My Goods until recently and now I’m definitely intrigued.
Yeah it's good! Like I said, not the easiest teach but once you've got it down it's pretty straight forward.
It doesn’t have a solo mode, does it?
There is a expansion that allows for solo play that is supposedly good.

Nothing this week. Unfortunately my session are all cancelled and I couldn't get the family to the table this week. I suspect as things go on we'll get some good family games going. :)
Skurvy5 Supporter3 months ago | 2 points[-]
Bummer. Sad to hear that. Good luck with the family!
Thanks! I'm sure they'll get bored and eventually we'll play a few things and they'll have fun. :)
I got in two games of #Reavers of Midgard last week. The first game was 160-159, with me winning. Later in the week we played again, and we scored 161-159, with my wife winning. Incredibly close games both times!
Yesterday before the kids' bedtime we played #Crokinole in teams, my four-year-old and me beating my wife and our 3-year-old. Then I played against my four-year-old 1-on-1 and he legitimately beat me. I don't go easy on him in that game but dang he's good!
Last night my wife and I played #Twice As Clever and #Dino Dunk. I won both games of Twice As Clever, but my wife shut me out in Dino Dunk.
That's great that your 4 year old beat you. Love it.
He's going to go on to great things. Like...ummm...win Crokinole tournaments haha
Or know lots about Star Wars. Or both.
This would be amazing. You could add an expansion that includes TIE fighters and Darth Vader to increase the difficulty somehow.
That would be really cool! I will have to ponder on this.
Some kind of “Use the Force” mechanic would be great too.
That is great.

We pulled off learning underwater cities, just under 4 hours... a bit brutal... but could end up being a very good game. We played nations 2 days ago, 7 wonders, Lewis and Clark Discoveries, and Raider of the North Sea.... Here's how I would rank those:
Riders of the North Sea
Lewis and Clark Discoveries
Love Raiders of the North Sea, especially with the expansions. They add so much.
we picked up the expansion but haven't tried them yet... I'm looking forward to it.
My suggestion is to play a game with Hall of Heroes first to get used to that variant. Fields of Fame is easier to digest if you add it on after that. They work flawlessly all together.
Underwater Cities is fantastic. It definitely gets faster the more you play it. Although I’ve only played it solo. Some great games on your list.
Mt wife likes it more than I do, but i think it's a game we can play much more, and yes it probably gets faster as you go... it make my brain hurt at the moment, I can only play it one or twice a week at this point.
Wow that's an impressive list for one week! Some big games in there!
How do you like #nations? I've been very interested in that one. I understand it is a somewhat streamlined version of #Through the Ages: A New Story of Civilization that you can play solo. Have you played it solo?
Nations will take some more plays before I know... but I like the idea of it... no idea about solo play yet.
Don't play it just for me. But, if you do play it solo, let us know how it is.
SO I've now played 3 game of Nations, and it's not good two player... it's too nasty to keep our marriage working smoothly. Upon next play we are going to eliminate the war cards and see if we can tolerate it... I don't like messing with the game original design too much, but I still want to keep playing it.
Oh dear. I like nasty.... But my wife doesn't. Several questions come to mind.
I played a very epic feeling game of #Star Trek: Frontiers last Sunday. I really really liked my first play or two of it. But it has really really grown on me since then it is pretty easily my number 2 of all time. I could see that with more play #Spirit Island might beat it out.... But I don't know.
This sounds awesome. Glad you are having fun. Unfortunately Spirit Island is becoming less of a favorite for me as time passes. I don’t know if there is something wrong with me or what.
I really am sorry about that. I guess you can always throw it on the trade pile.
I ended up trading my Spirit Island copy. My group isn't a fan of tough co ops and I had others that I'd play before getting that one so I traded it.
Dos you like it? Or was it just a group thing?
Oh dear. To bad you didn't try it.
I know. Still, even if we tried it it wouldn't have come off of the shelf that much. I do still want to play at some point
I hope you can.
That makes two of us lol
Thanks for the update Phil! I too have no desire to pick up the hard copy of Tokaido.
It’s been nice to see people come together to find solutions in the midst of all this.

A friend and I tried out #Oceans on tabletopia as well. I'll have to try out a couple other games but we weren't all that impressed with it, to be honest. It was basically a physics engine that let you have a secret hand of cards, so we had to do all the work of moving stuff around ourselves. I did notice that some of the text on the cards was different than my copy of the game, so it might be a beta of some kind.
That’s a bummer about Tabletopia being unwieldy. TTS seems to be about the same which has definitely detracted from me using it very much.
I downloaded Tokaido, but still haven't played the app yet. It looks so good!
Relaxing is why I play the physical game. I'm glad this one is also relaxing :)
We talk about board games here. Games like Codenames, Catan, Root, and all your favorites. Posts can link directly to games and everyone is welcome to join the discussion.
