Trismegistus Solo

Review

I finally got arround to playing the solo Trismegistus.  Wow! I scored 164!  Completed three manuscripts, got to the top of every track, completed 6 experiments, and 6 of my philosopher's stone.  Botmegistus scored 58.  I'll up the difficulty and try running this one again.

In your opinion is this worth it just for the solo play. I've been looking for an alchemy inspired game.

I haven't played a ton of alchemy games so my experience is limited. I am also not sure how many alchemy game with a solo experience are out there.

Bearing the above in mind...I did enjoy the solo experience and was able to play 2-3 games rather quickly as the AI runs pretty easily once you have the mechanics down.  It's similar to Paladins or Architects of the West Kingdom as far as running the AI goes.  So for a game that meets the specific requirements of 1) alchemy and 2) solo I'd say it is good and would recommend it.

If you 3D print or have a friend who does I recommend printing some storage as there are a lot of bags to manage without a solution.

Sweet! After seeing your comments, I watched a solo playthrough video and it looks cool. Just ordered it.  Good heads up on storage.

I lost my second run through!!  This time I set botmegistus on his hardest setting. Final score 150-120.  I still completed all my manuscripts and my entire philosophers stone but needed a  few more experiments  completed or better manuscripts to beat the bot.  It is a fun game.  I think it is complicated to explain but once all players have the nuances down it feels like alchemy.

Did this game take you longer? How is the setup?

WadeB1977 4 months ago | 1 point[-]

I would say setup is moderate.  More time on the first few playthroughs.  I'd say something a little less than Dinosaur Island but takes a little longer than Paladins of the West Kingdom.  I think this play through was about the same length as the first.  Possible faster as I didn't have to reference the rules as often to clarify what the bot would do.  If it was any longer it was due to my trying to think about what I wanted to do on the last round.

That more I play this game the more I like it and want to play more to try different tactics.  I don't think it's as "tight" as other games with mechanics and I think there's a little more chance inherent in the game than I like in a game like this but I need to play it more and try different avenues to be sure.

I've been interested since Essen.... Maybe I'll get it someday.

Or just come through Denton Texas and give me an excuse for a cheese board and a game ;)

I keep on dreaming of driving home to se ks ks sometime. It looks like you are right on the way.

Ah, I see.  I keep trying to talk my family into driving to Alaska.  Alas, I think it will end up being an excursion I do with a few guys one day.

I  lived in Central America for 4 years as a child. This time I've been here for a year so far, and I have no idea how long I'll be here. But in those combined five years I have never had the privilege of roadtripping home to ks. I love epic road trips. Especially international ones. So I really really want to roadtrip home. Maybe next year....

I would love that.

Are you seriously in Central America and drive to Oklahoma (you know there are planes right?)?

Marshwiggle92 Supporter4 months ago | 1 point[-]

Yes, I'm fact, in flying home next month for a wedding.

Oh no! Yet another game I need to add to my wishlist. Bah!

How long did it take you?

WadeB1977 4 months ago | 1 point[-]

It was a lot faster than a multiplayer game. I'd say roughly an hour or less. Most of it was me thinking about what I wanted to do. As far a solos go it's a fast one.

That's a nice length.
