Viticulture: Digital Review

Gameplay

Good Morning Everyone,

I was able to play my second game in a couple of weeks on Tabletopia.  This time I played Viticulture with a couple of guys I game with a lot and it was really fun.  This time we all used a Discord server so we could talk while we played and it made the game much more enjoyable but also much quicker.  @philryuh not needing to type all the time really helped.  It took us about an hour and fifteen minutes to play the game, and this is with one of the people using Tabletopia for the first time.

I'm really excited to have this option right now while we need to "Stay at Home".

Also, I went ahead and bough a gold plan while we are in quarantine.  For $10 a month I can run a premium game and I can have people with free accounts join me.  I likely won't keep it once we get back to life as normal but I'm really happy with the little investment for the short term.

Wow, that gaming time is impressive. My wife and I take 1.5 hours or less to play a game and the three of you played in 1 hr and 15 minutes? lol

Glad Tabletopia is working out so well for you! Looking forward to getting on another session with more people from here for this or games like #Root and #Architects of the West Kingdom.

Yeah for sure!  I really want to try Architects.  I do think playing while using Discord really really helped with how long it took.  Plus no set up or tear down.

Hopefully we can get an online game in one of these days.  I still haven’t hear your thoughts on Root.

It’s coming tonight hopefully.

I haven't really had a desire to use Tabletopia but this is a really compelling reason to sign up. I've been missing playing #Viticulture: Essential Edition

Yeah I’m sure once quarantine is over I’ll drop it, but it’s gonna be a great investment while we are all stuck at home.  Maybe we can get a game in at some point with @philryuh.  They also have Tuscany (which is my plan for the next time I play online).

Glad you had fun.

So, was it a 4 person game?

We played with 3.  I actually really like it 3+.  Obviously if we added 3 people the time would have rolled in around 2 hours (which would have been fine).

What's the best number to play with on Tabletopia vs on the table.

Great question!  At the Table I really really enjoy 5 - 6.  I'd say Tabletopia is better 3 - 4, at least if the people playing aren't familiar with playing online.  If everyone feels comfortable and will be using Discord or some other chat service 5 - 6 would be great too, although it would take longer than in person 5 - 6.  I'd think 2 - 2.5 hours on Tabletop 5 - 6.
