What are your gaming plans for this weekend?

I'm gearing up for a solo session of #Root. Really looking forward to trying out a co-op game with my wife at some point too.

My wife and I will also likely get in a game of #Tuscany: Essential Edition and trying out the special workers for the first time. Either that or #Clans of Caledonia.

Enjoy your weekend everyone! And I'm looking forward to playing #Welcome to... with some of you on live stream some time next week or the one after.

I’m going to play #A Feast For Odin to eventually do a Brian’s battery review on Saturday and probably play #Root or something on Sunday.

I started watching a playthrough of #Root with co-op play. Looks very promising so far. The video is also showing the Vagabond as one of the teammates, which is great because I still haven't played that faction to date.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Feast!

Looking forward to your review.

Teaching my wife Paladins of the West Kingdom. She's resistant to learning new games but hey, we've got nothing else going on this weekend!

philryuh Supporter57 days ago | 1 point[-]

Nice, hope it goes well! Trent and I co-own a copy and I'm thinking of getting it from his shelf at some point to try out the solo play. I've heard nothing but good things so far.

Skurvy5 Supporter58 days ago | 1 point[-]

This should be great. I love Paladins.

philryuh Supporter58 days ago | 1 point[-]

Oh, I forgot to mention one more. Trent and I co-own a copy of #Pax Pamir (Second Edition). I got it form him last night so that I can try out some solo games in the future.

Played two solo versions on Vassal this week. Takes me a while to walk through Wakhan's moves, but otherwise it's really fun solo.

philryuh Supporter56 days ago | 1 point[-]

My first and last play was multiplayer and it was rough. Left thinking that the game wasn't really for me. Hope it works out better once I have a good grasp on the rules and the gameplay!

Nice!

I highly recommend this guys videos for getting the feel of solo play for this.

Skurvy5 Supporter56 days ago | 1 point[-]

Does he do other learn to play videos? For some reason listening to British accents is just so pleasing.

Marshwiggle92 Supporter56 days ago | 1 point[-]

His channel is great. He has a lot of stuff on it, I have watched a lot, just for fun. But, he has taught me some games as well.

His channel is called, Box of Delights.

He designed  #renegade, the solo variant for #Pax Pamir (Second Edition),  and some other solo variants as well.

philryuh Supporter57 days ago | 1 point[-]

Will check it out tonight, thanks!

Marshwiggle92 Supporter57 days ago | 1 point[-]

I recomend all of his videos. I love his playthroughs and sometimes have one playing in the background even if I have no interest in the game.

Marshwiggle92 Supporter58 days ago | 1 point[-]

I am so so jealous.

sdirrane Supporter58 days ago | 1 point[-]

I have Digital Viticulture tonight on Tabletopia.  Even though we've all played Tuscany I think we'll do the base game tonight since we are still learning how to work the online game.

Let us know how solo Root goes!  I might try to get a solo game in sometime this weekend too.

Skurvy5 Supporter58 days ago | 1 point[-]

This sounds great Scott. Let me know how it turns out!

sdirrane Supporter57 days ago | 1 point[-]

Just posted a short review in the Forum.  Even shorter review, I really enjoyed it.

Marshwiggle92 Supporter57 days ago | 1 point[-]

Wow. That is a nice short summary.

Skurvy5 Supporter57 days ago | 1 point[-]

TLDR!

nealkfrank 58 days ago | 1 point[-]

My table is currently consumed by a 2000 piece puzzle...Once that is cleared and done I am gonna try and get a solo game of #Gaia Project in this weekend and maybe a smaller game like #Azul or #7 Wonders Duel with the wife. We will see though! I am still playing games online throughout the day!

philryuh Supporter57 days ago | 1 point[-]

A nice puzzle is always pretty enjoyable and relaxing. It's been a longgg time since I've tackled a puzzle of that size haha. I think I remember hearing that solo #Gaia Project has an AI opponent, is that right? Which online games have been the best so far? I loved hearing the suggestions from 3 Minute Board Game's recent video.

nealkfrank 56 days ago | 1 point[-]

It is right! They have a good AI deck that competes well and even scales difficulty wise.

Skurvy5 Supporter58 days ago | 1 point[-]

I can’t wait for my birthday in June. I’m going to ask my Mom to gift me Gaia Project.

philryuh Supporter56 days ago | 1 point[-]

Dang, that's a lot of great games you've gotten in the past 6 months or so lol

Skurvy5 Supporter56 days ago | 1 point[-]

Indeed. I went ahead and asked my sister to grab the expansion for Feast for Odin. And my Dad for Mage Knight Ultimate Edition. All 3 were on a minor sale. And who knows how long it’ll take for them to ship.

philryuh Supporter55 days ago | 1 point[-]

Wow, the ultimate solo game huh? :D

Have you played the regular Mage Knight at all?

Marshwiggle92 Supporter57 days ago | 1 point[-]

I really want this game. But the box is so so big.

Skurvy5 Supporter58 days ago | 1 point[-]

Is a puzzle a board game?

nealkfrank 56 days ago | 1 point[-]

I would say it is an activity not a game!

Marshwiggle92 Supporter57 days ago | 1 point[-]

No

Skurvy5 Supporter56 days ago | 1 point[-]

Definitive answer from the definitive source.

Marshwiggle92 Supporter56 days ago | 1 point[-]

LOL. It can definitely be play. But, if you look up "game" in Merriam Websters you will find only one definition that I feel would include puzzles. I'm not demeaning puzzles. But, I feel like games are defined by rules and puzzles are pretty short on that.

Marshwiggle92 Supporter58 days ago | 1 point[-]

It is hard to tell. This week had been slower, so I've managed to get some good solo games in. I'm really hoping to play #Star Trek: Frontiers tomorrow and/or Sunday. But, we will wait and see. Of course, #Spirit Island has been pretty fun as well. I just had a narrow fear win playing as "shadows flicker like flame." but as fun and pretty as that is, #Star Trek: Frontiers with its big meaty puzzles just keep on calling me.

philryuh Supporter57 days ago | 1 point[-]

If I'm remembering correctly, you had #Spirit Island as your favorite solo game last time. Has #Star Trek: Frontiers overthrown it now? :D

Marshwiggle92 Supporter57 days ago | 1 point[-]

I don't know. Maybe. They go back and forth.

Skurvy5 Supporter58 days ago | 1 point[-]

I’m glad you enjoy Star Trek so much.

Marshwiggle92 Supporter57 days ago | 1 point[-]

I enjoy the theme. But, that is not what I enjoy about the game.

Skurvy5 Supporter57 days ago | 1 point[-]

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I meant that you enjoy the game as a whole.

Marshwiggle92 Supporter57 days ago | 1 point[-]

Gotcha

Chessterton 58 days ago | 1 point[-]

I can't tell for sure if I'll get to mix in a longer game with some shorter ones. Likely, #Twice As Clever and #The Crew: The Quest for Planet Nine will find their way to the mix.

philryuh Supporter57 days ago | 1 point[-]

#The Crew: The Quest for Planet Nine has been getting so much great publicity lately. I still have no idea what the game is about though. Should check a video at some point. How has it been working out for you?

Chessterton 57 days ago | 1 point[-]

I like it a lot. But admittedly, it's a great personal fit for me as I like trick-taking. I am also guessing that some of its popularity is because it's a mission-based co-op and replayable as even the same mission would almost always be different due to the shuffle.

Skurvy5 Supporter58 days ago | 1 point[-]

Those sound fun!

theDL 58 days ago | 1 point[-]

I play to play some #Everdell tonight with my wife. Our kickstarted expansions just arrived! Yay!

Chessterton 58 days ago | 1 point[-]

Very cool. We received #Everdell: Bellfaire Expansion also.

theDL 58 days ago | 1 point[-]

Nice! Decided to just get the one?

Chessterton 58 days ago | 1 point[-]

Yes. I considered all of them but as I like the base game so much, just figured Bellfaire was the way for us to keep playing the base game but in a variety of ways. I am looking forward to hearing more reports of how everyone is liking Spirecrest though!

theDL 58 days ago | 1 point[-]

Nice! Yeah to me it seems that Spirecrest is the biggest change in how the game plays, where Pearlbrook just adds some more strategic options, and Bellfaire adds some variety. We'll see though! I'm excited to play!
