There are tons of board games out there, and more keep coming in, but each decade has its gems. If you were stuck on a desert island, which of these board game groups would you choose to have with you?
In terms of players, you always have people to play with that make for the perfect play count of any game you choose.

Hard to argue with this list - there are a lot of classics in there! My only reason for not picking it is that I haven't played most of those!

Based on my top 10 games 2017 and onwards makes sense. Although, if I have to play purely solo games then the answer becomes a lot more spread out. :)

Well this is excruciating! My top 10 is split between the final two categories, but I think I'll have to go with "2017 and on." Even ignoring the obvious loophole that this includes all yet unreleased games until the end of time, that's got a huge concentration of my favorite games, with the next most being from 2011-2016 (notably #Inis and #Santorini)

Lordy, don't force me back to the 1980s!!
I'm sure I would be happy with either of the following three categories. Our hobby blossomed after the milennium and whilst we may argue some years are worse than others, each recent year has offered massive choice compared to any year in the 1980s (or indeed 1990s), and on the whole some good lessons were learnt about issues with those older games, issues that we accepted at the time for 'that's how it is', but in hindsight we were far too tolerent of player elimination and overly long games that lacked any real progression in the experience over that time.

Great question!
My eyes immediately run up, because I love games and computers so much, and now I started to understand how all those games are created and it's mega interesting, for example, on this site you can see a lot of interesting things.
And on a desert island you can definitely take one of the games above written.

For me, there is not even a hint of a doubt: #Race for the Galaxy, #Agricola, #Through the Ages: A Story of Civilization, #Railways of the World, #Battlestar Galactica: The Board Game, #Middle Earth Quest, #Dominant Species, #Formula D, #Imperial 2030, #7 Wonders, #Lords of Vegas, #Le Havre, #No Thanks!, #Small World, #Hey, That's My Fish!, #Galaxy Trucker, #Pandemic, #Schotten Totten, #Tikal, #Tigris & Euphrates, #For Sale, #Coloretto, #Hanabi, #Chaos in the Old World, #Ghost Stories, #Space Alert, #Here I Stand, #Earth Reborn, #Jamaica, #Fury of Dracula (Second Edition), #Wits & Wagers, #PitchCar, #War of the Ring, #Reef Encounter, #BattleCON: War of Indines
And I have left out magnificent games that I dislike or haven't played yet like Catan, Ticket to Ride, Twilight Struggle, Dixit, Citadels, Caylus, Memoir 44, Brass, Power Grid, Descent, The Resistance, Arkham Horror, Dominion, Puerto Rico, Carcassonne, El Grande, Merchants &Marauders, Comands&Colors, Glory to Rome, Age of Steam, Ra, Dungeon Lords, Paths of Glory, Innovation, Modern Art, Magic, RoboRally, Princess of Florence, Hansa Teutonica, Goa, The Republic of Rome, Antiquity, Warhammer Quest, Roads&Boats, Indonesia, Container, Hannibal Rome vs Carthage and finally SW the Queen Gambit, the only good thing to come out of the prequels.
